
COPAINALÁ

The word Copainalá proceed from Náhuatl Koa-painal-lan: cohuatl snake; painalé, runner and lan, abundance place. Of this way, Copainalá means "Place of the snakes ran ". In spite of the names it’s on náhuatl language, The culture who prevails into this place were the Zoqueres, which ones previously has been named it “Kopak-Ta”, and it means Snake’s Head, this because of mexicas (Náhualt’s speakers) who’ve conquested and subdued the Zoque’s territory, accordingly the settlement, to Zoque’s language to náhuatl’s language, like happened Copainalá with. Hernández and Narcia (2017).Actually, the name that they’re being brings to copainaltecos to their place is Pokiø´mø, Poquiama, Poyuma or Poquiujma that means “Place where run away or ran away”; of poyu: run away. Jma:place or over there. Which one could allude to ‘niche’ or ‘home’ this due to there’s not an aparent definition for this name. Newell,G. (2018) in the same way to men’s and woman’s they call it Tsunipøn and Tsuniyomo. (INEGI, 2008).
