Ocotepec in náhuatl language means "Ocote’s Hill", in virtue that is situaded in the serrana región or mountains of north. Ku-bimo is in Zoque’s language and means "Ocotepec".

Actually, In Ocotepec still being speaking Zoque. The climate is warm wet with rains all the edge, due to the vegetation predomined of high jungle. The hydrolectric resource are comformated by the rivers: Cuachi and Tombac, the stream of permanent cudal, San Isidro and for the Village, streams thus too of newspaper caudal as from the Campana and the Pollón, complementing this rubro of the lagoon Agua Perdida.
